Welcome to Year Six
Hello to all of the children (and parents) who are now in Year 6. We are so excited for the year ahead and hope that you are too!
Keep checking on here for updates – your new homework tasks will be posted every week.
Love from your Year 6 teachers,
Mrs Clay, Mrs Medcraft, Mr Carpmail, Mr Lapworth, Mrs Dhand and Mrs Sabino.
Take a look at how the year 6 trip to Plas Dol-y-Moch in North Wales was enjoyed by all. This year’s trip will be on Friday 7th March – Tuesday 11th March 2025. Links to course information for March 2025 can be found below.
In year 6, the following homework will be given out weekly:
Maths Homework
Maths homework will be given out every Thursday, to be returned to school the following Tuesday.
SPaG Homework
SPaG homework will be given out every Thursday, to be returned to school the following Tuesday.
Spellings – to be given out and posted below each Monday, with a spelling test taking place in school the following Monday. Please try and practise your spellings 4 times each week.
Reading – all children to read for at least 10-15 minutes a minimum of 4 times per week at home and to get their reading diaries signed by an adult. Reading diaries will be checked each week.
PE will take place EVERY FRIDAY in year 6. Please send your child to school in a full school PE kit.
Yoga will take place on the first 3 Fridays of each half term, so no need to worry about P.E. kit on additional days.
If you are at home, but well enough to access some learning, please complete the following tasks:
- Log on to Times Tables Rockstars daily to practise your multiplication and division facts: https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth
- Make sure you spend some time each day reading
- Practise your spellings and apply your learning by putting them into your own sentences. Use a dictionary to check the definition of any words you are unsure of
